We've never hidden our love for drones here at EDGAR. We've discussed how UAVs will change the world, taken a look at the UAE's Drones for Good awards and recently our jaws hit the ground when we saw the world's first supercharged drone. But we may have just found our new favourite, and probably the planet's most awesome drone, to date. Meet Lily, the world's first throw-and-shoot camera.

Throwing Lily up into the air activates its four rotator blades and just like that, you're away. By wearing a tracking device on your wrist, Lily follows you wherever you go and whatever you do, recording everything in 1080p HD video. Snowboarding in the alps, kayaking through rapids, or simply just walking across some stunning scenery, Lily hovers above you without the need for any remote control. You can choose to have Lily follow or lead, or if you're standing still, she will circle you like a dog waiting to be thrown a ball; the labrador of drones.

Using image stabilisation and fixed focus capabilities with an accelerometer and a three-axis gyro, Lily can also shoot in slo-mo at 120 frames per second and take 12mp still images. It can reach a maximum speed of 40 km/h and a maximum height of 50ft, and gets 20 minutes of flight time out of its 2-hour charge period.

We don't need to say a whole lot more - oh, it's also waterproof - just watch the video above and be amazed at how far commercial drones have come. The only problem you may find should you buy Lily, is if you do enough extreme activities to warrant owning her.
