From abstract expressionism to Japanese calligraphy, this Icelandic artist is explosive with her colour.

Some people have being messy down to an art form. Katrin Fridriks has it nailed better than most.

The Icelandic artist paints abstract, conceptual works with explosive splashes of colour. In other words, you have no hope of fully understanding her work unless you get inside her head. But then that's the beauty of it.

Fridriks style ranges from abstract expressionism to Japanese calligraphy signs and she also makes installations. Her collections have ranged from focussing on the genetic code, to the flux of information and technology in our world, to natural resources and the consequences of human activities on Earth.

What we really like though is that she constantly reworks some of her paintings, meaning the pieces evolve as time goes on. Make sure your contrast settings are set right, and enjoy some of her work: Artist Katrin Fridriks. Artist Katrin Fridriks. Artist Katrin Fridriks. Artist Katrin Fridriks. Artist Katrin Fridriks.
