Giant, curved steel fingers that reach up to the ceiling form part of a striking new exhibition by renowned conceptual artist Bernar Venet.

The Frenchman is presenting his first solo exhibition in the UAE with a 6.5 metre tall steel work named Arc as the centrepiece.

Venet has been embedded in the art world since the 1960s, exhibiting poetry, painting, sculpture and performance art all over the world consistently for decades. One of his most famous pieces stands at the Chateau de Versailles in Paris and stands at 22 metres.

His UAE debut is now on display at the Custot Gallery in Dubai’s Alserkal Avenue.

As well as sculpture, Venet’s work on paper and canvas will also feature in the exhibition, some of which is inspired by one of the founding fathers of mathematics, Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi.
