While Dubai’s art scene has been continually growing for some time, it can be hard to measure how successful and well received the increased level of culture has been.

A positive sign is a returning exhibition, and with Opera Gallery’s Icons of Art II this month, Dubai has just that.

The second edition of the popular exhibit not only shows the appreciation for art that Dubai has, but also the interest in differing movements and eras.

With a number of masterpieces from some of the world’s most renowned artists, the international gallery will once again display pieces from both contemporary names and artists that significantly influenced and even changed 20th century art.

Picasso, Andy Warhol, Gérard Rancinan, Damien Hirst, Henri Matisse, Roy Lichtenstein, Bernard Buffet, Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall and Fernando Botero all have works on show.

Showcase names aside, there will also be pieces by lesser-known influential creators from outside the western world.

Here are some of the works that will be on show.
