If ever a concept was perfect for Dubai, Flavio Briatore’s Billionaire Mansion is it.

When the Italian businessman announced that he would be bringing his world-renowned lifestyle brand to the emirate, the only real surprise was that it hadn’t happened sooner.

Billionaire Mansion became known among the world’s elite nightlife venues over 20 years ago in Sardinia before opening branches in Turkey, Kenya and Monaco, and from March this year, Dubai's name will be added to that list.

Located in the Taj Hotel in Business Bay, the venue will be modelled on the brand’s successful clubs in Bodrum, Istanbul and Malindi Beach. It will include renowned Japanese restaurant Sumosan, lounge bar, nightclub, karaoke room, outdoor terrace and shisha bar.

The restaurant will serve a combination of Japanese and Italian cuisine, with the Japanese menu being taken care of by famous London restaurant Sumosan and the Italian part being worked on by 20 top European chefs.

"Dubai is very competitive,” Briatore told Khaleej Times. “Although there are plenty of restaurants here, we want to do something in our style. We have clients all over the world. We want to bring them over to Dubai.

The former Benetton and Renault F1 team boss is launching Billionaire Mansion in partnership with Lebanon-based Pragma Group and Indian family the Nandas, who own the Taj Dubai, and he claims that Dubai is the perfect place to expand the brand.

"Dubai is always buzzing with energy,” he said. “The government is very proactive with approvals, which is not the case in Europe. It is also located midway between Europe and Africa, where I have a lot of investments. It's a perfect spot to implement our concept."

As well as the city’s ideal location and favourable government approvals, the amount of well-heeled potential guests in the emirate must also have been a factor in Briatore’s decision. However, the Italian insists that Billionaire Mansion won’t just be for the super-rich.

"The Billionaire Club aims to emulate a billionaire lifestyle,” he said. “But that does not mean you have to be a billionaire to enter our club; everyone is a VIP once you enter the doors of a Billionaire Club.”
