Why La Môme is one of the best restaurants in Dubai

The cosy French restaurant on the 49th floor hits all the high notes.

Last week, we compiled a list of our top 10 restaurants of the year. This intimate, friendly French restaurant with one of the best views in town from the 49th floor of the Nassima Royal Hotel led the pack. Here’s why:

Food: Hearty but not heavy. This is French comfort eating with a touch of elegance from French chef Johann Dudemaine and his team of countrymen. Try the lamb rack as a main course and don’t leave without ordering the chocolate mousse with whipped cream that is plopped on your plate from big copper pans.

Décor: The owners of the restaurant at the Nassima Royal Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road moved the walls to create a more cosy space. The wooden window frames are a small touch but make a huge difference in adding a bit of rustic charm.

Philosophy: “Fresh produce always,” says the boss Olivier Loeb. “If the produce is good there’s no need to hide it under lots of ingredients. Our food is uncomplicated, simple and natural.”

Service: Good looking French waiters and waitresses skip about with a friendly smile and plenty of charm. There’s no formality here; we were encouraged to pick up the lamb bones and have a chew so that’s exactly what we did.

View: Ask for table 23. It’s right in the window and has spectacular views of Emirates Towers, the Burj Khalifa and the bright lights below.
