You may have watched one of the most entertaining El Clásicos ever played this past Sunday. For those of you who missed it, here’s what happened:
In a routinely heated fixture between Real Madrid and Barcelona that included words, gestures, fouls and a red card, Carlos Casemiro opened the scoring for Madrid before Lionel Messi equalised. Ivan Rakitic then gave Barca the lead in the second half only for James Rodriguez to make things level again. Then, two minutes into added time Messi scored the winner and his 500th Barcelona goal.
The drama didn’t end there. In an epic celebration that sent Twitter – and Real Madrid fans all over the world – into a frenzy, the Argentinian forward ran over to the Madrid fans and held up his ‘Messi 10’ shirt in front of them.
This isn’t the first time a player has fine-tuned his celebration to rile up opposition fans. Click through the slideshow to see nine other instances.
