A mammoth gift for the man who has everything

September 28, 2014

What do you buy for the man who has everything? He already owns all the latest technology, has the best car, suit, shoes and a collection of watches that's worth more than most people's property portfolio, but we can pretty much guarantee there's one thing he hasn't got: a giant woolly mammoth skeleton. Yes, we know it may be a slightly off-the-wall option and you'd certainly have to check he has the space for it, but imagine the reaction when he sets his eyes on this incredible 3.5-metre-by-5.5-metre specimen. The skeleton belongs to a male ice-age mammoth, which is thought to have weighed more than six tones when it roamed the Earth 10,000 years ago. Apart from a couple of missing toes, it's more or less complete, which means it's extremely rare and is sure to be highly sought after when it goes on sale in the UK on November 26, 2014. Untitled Experts have estimated that the skeleton is likely to fetch anything up to AED 1.5 million, and with countless museums around the world vying to buy this piece, plus the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and John Travlota known collectors, competition is going to be fierce. Apparently scientists are working on a way to genetically recreate the wooly mammoth, but while we're waiting for that to happen, this is about as close as you can get to seeing one of these magnificent beasts in the flesh.
