Goliath 27-litre bottle of wine served in Dubai
September 7, 2014
Dubai is no stranger to grand sizes and limited editions, but this week will mark a new first for the emirate as it receives its largest bottle of wine ever.
Chilean wine producer Lapostolle is bringing one of only two 27-litre bottles of its Clos Apalta grape to the Grosvenor House hotel, in celebration of the wine’s 20th year.
To put it in perspective, the Goliath bottle of red is the equivalent to 36 normal-sized bottles of plonk, which by our rough estimates should fill around 150 glasses.
The Clos Apalta will be served across three exclusive dinners being held at the hotel’s Toro Toro restaurant, from Sunday 7th to Tuesday 9th September, where a one-off set menu has been created to celebrate the drink.
As if that wasn’t enough for the most dedicated of wine connoisseurs, a selection of premium pairings from Casa Lapostolle will also be available, to go with the lamb shank and churrasco skewer on the menu. It’s fair to say that if you secure a spot for the dinner this week, you won’t be going thirsty.
