Is this the new iPhone 6?

June 16, 2014
At some point this year - we're guessing September - the biggest company in the world will release one of the most highly-anticipated technology products of the year. In fact, make that of the decade. Since its inception, the iPhone has always garnered worldwide attention as a revolutionary product with its launches, chaired by the late Steve Jobs, becoming stories of legend. But this year's unveiling will be anticipated for a different reason. Namely, to see if Apple has any chance of stopping the reckoning force that is Samsung. So, what can we expect from the iPhone 6? Okay, maybe the wraparound screen above is still a few versions away, but this latest leak gives us a very good idea of what it will look like. We rarely believe internet rumours, but this latest one may well have some legs. Why? Because it's from Australian Sonny Dickson, who, after publishing several credible leaks of Apple products on his Twitter page over the past few years, has become the go-to source for news on the electronics giant.  The latest leak comes in the form of a new set of images of what Sonny claims to be dummy models of the new 4.7 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6. Although they can't be verified, these images stick to the rumors that Apple has been working on two variants for its new model, as it did with the iPhone 5S and 5C. The Home button remains on the front of the new model, despite some suggestions that it was past its sell-by date and would be dropped to make more room for a bigger screen. Instead, it looks like the bigger screen will come courtesy of a bigger device, with the 4.7-inch model replacing the 4-inch iPhone 5S, and the 5.5-incher challenging the likes of the Galaxy Note 4 in the hybrid Phablet market. Reports from Sapphire Glass indicate that they will have the stock to supply Apple with enough super-strong, scratch-resistant glass to satisfy projected orders for both the iPhone 6 and the iWatch - another attempt to match Samsung's products. And if you don't believe that a bit of glass can protect your new iPhone 6 from scratches and bumps, check out this video of it being tested: The global release date looks likely to coincide with the iWatch, which should hit shelves some time in September this year. And when will it be in the UAE? Well, past releases show us it normally takes around two weeks for Apple's new products to hit the shelves in the Middle East, although they appear on the black market almost instantly. Expect all the major tech stores to have it from October onwards. How does Sonny Dickinson find out all this information we hear you ask? Well, on his website he claims it's his "many sources and developer skills, allowing him to find hidden information in the codes of beta software left behind by unknowing engineers". To be honest we're not too fussed how he does it, just as long as the leaks keep coming and turn out to be correct, then you have our attention, Sonny.
