Porsche honours Le Mans with 911 Martini Racing Edition

June 18, 2014
Normally when you return to the fold of something which you once held dear - and were extremely successful in - you would expect to be honoured with a token of recognition. But when Porsche decided to return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans last week after a 16-year absence, it decided to turn the tables. And we're all pretty glad they did. The German brand unveiled an eye-catching version of its iconic 911 named the Carrera S Martini Racing Edition, complete with signature Martini racing stripes. Packing a 3.8-litre flat six engine producing 400 horsepower, the Martini Porsche (as it will inevitably be called) comes in either white or black and features upgraded aerodynamics, black leather sport seats and a Bose sound system. Along with a fixed rear spoiler, more aggressive front splitter and sports chromo package, the exclusive 911 will go from 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. Limited to just 80 units and costing $173,000 - AED 634,000 - each car's boot lid, roof section, rear wing and sides are lined with the famous blue-red Martini livery, while Martini Racing Edition badges adorn the interior and door sills - just in case your neighbour thinks this was your own custom paint job. A brilliant and unique car to own then, no doubt about that. But not one for sneaking around town in. [gallery link="none" ids="3668,3680,3678"]
