June 18, 2014
The first day of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan has been confirmed as Sunday June 29 by officials at the Sharjah Planetarium at the Department of Culture and Information, according to state news agency WAM. The news comes as officials say the crescent moon will form on June 27, and that Eid Al Fitr will probably begin on July 28. Muslims traditionally fast from sunrise to sunset during Ramadan, which this year will be around 15 hours each day.
