The transforming speed boat

September 22, 2014
When the designers at Austrian company Kormaran got their brief for this luxury speedboat, we can only assume that it was stuck to the plans for three or four other watercraft, because what they produced is a boat concept that transforms between six different modes to go from a rapid speedboat to a luxury yacht complete with tanning deck. Equipped with more gadgets than you'd find on a Bond vehicle, the Kormaran is made using carbon fibre, teak wood, stainless steel, titanium and the finest leather, to produce the ultimate in high-end finishes. The boat uses hydrofoils to decrease water resistance by 80 per cent, meaning you can reach higher speeds (around 70km/h) while using less energy. Although it's just a prototype at the moment, we're hopeful that it will get rolled out into production soon. If you're heading to the Monaco Boat Show between September 24 and September 27, you can even arrange a personal appointment with the team so you can get a closer look at this mean machine.
