W Doha Hotel To Take Bookings Through Twitter

April 15, 2014

There was a time when picking up the telephone and negotiating with the front desk was the only way to book a hotel room with a view. Nowadays though, all you need is 140 characters. The W Hotel in Doha has launched a new service it’s calling ‘tweeps’ which allows guests to make reservations through Twitter, offering various discounted rates in return. Tweeting the hotel’s handle @wdoha along with the hashtag #bookwdoha starts an online conversation with the W's resident social media guru, and leads to a confirmed reservation. Pretty neat, providing your internet doesn’t crash mid-conversation of course. The luxury hotel in Qatar’s capital is even offering discounted rates for using the 21st century service. Rooms reserved for Sunday to Wednesday receive a 10 per cent discount while weekend bookers get 20 per cent off. If you’ve been waiting for a genuinely good reason to join the Twitter ranks – because let’s be honest, following celebrities and sending them wink faces isn’t one – then you may now have it.
