Wanted: The UAE's fittest athletes

August 6, 2014

Are you one of those people who get driven mad by relaxing beach holidays, where you do nothing but sunbathe and lie still? If so, we've got the ideal mini break for you. The Anantara Adventure Challenge is a three night/four day fitness event, which is set to take place across three of the hotel chain's properties in Abu Dhabi from December 10. Designed to test the endurance of the participants, this challenge will certainly be no walk in the park. The first event of its kind, it has space for up to 50 athletes, who will enter in teams of two (one man, one woman). The challenge starts at Qasr Al Sarab Resort, where participants will be briefed ahead of the first day's activities, which will include fat biking and dune running. Day two is made up of mountain biking and sea swimming at the Desert Islands Resort & Spa, while the third and final day, held at Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa, will see challengers faced with kayaking the mangrove lagoon and running the Eastern Mangroves corniche and leisure precinct. And the challenge won't just be testing physical fitness, because each pairing will also be quizzed on their knowledge of the destinations they're competing in after the activities each evening.
