Beckham in Dubai: what he might get up to

What Becks should do on his flying visit to the UAE.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of weeks you’ll no doubt be aware that the one and only David Beckham will be in Dubai on Tuesday, September 29.

While Becks’ trip to the UAE is likely to be a short one – he will be here to open the new Adidas store as part of the expansion at Mall Of The Emirates – if he has a few hours to kill, Dubai has plenty to keep him occupied. Here's what we suggest he does…

He loves motorbikes…

A man of impeccable tastes, Beckham is the proud owner of a Triumph Bonneville T100. With this in mind, we’re sure that he would be in his element at trendy Al Quoz coffee shop Café Rider.

Not only can he get a cracking macchiato, but he can also check out the selection of vintage machines on display and observe the mechanics working on bikes in the workshop.

He loves ice cream…

While Becks still clearly likes to keep himself in shape, since his retirement from professional football he has been known to treat himself to the odd luxury now and again.

His time in Milan gave him a taste for gelato, so while he’s in Dubai we’d recommend Dri Dri on The Beach, JBR for a freshly made Italian ice cream fix.

He loves a haircut…

If we have learned one thing about Beckham throughout his career it is that the man has a serious penchant for changing his hairdo. Before stepping out in front of a swarm of photographers at the Adidas store, Becks will no doubt want to sharpen up and make sure he’s looking his best.

We reckon gents’ salon 1847, which has branches in Jumeirah Emirates Towers, City Walk and JBR, would be right up his street.

He loves buying presents…

We don’t imagine Victoria is best pleased about her husband spending yet more time away from the family for work, so he’d better not return from Dubai empty handed. Luckily Mall of the Emirates has everything he’ll need.

He can pick up some gear for his sons from the Adidas shop, Victoria’s Secret is ideal for Mrs Beckham, and his daughter, Harper, would surely love to see her Daddy come home with a big teddy bear from Build A Bear workshop.

He loves seafood…

It is no secret that Becks is one of a number of A-list celebrities who frequent the popular New York restaurant, Catch.

Well, he’ll be pleased to know that his favourite fish restaurant has opened up a branch right here in Dubai at the Fairmont, Sheikh Zayed Road, and we can assure him that the food there is every bit as good as its New York counterpart.

He loves Real Madrid…

Among the list of the world’s top clubs he represented, Beckham spent four happy years at Spanish giants Real Madrid. As a fully paid-up member of the Galacticos, Becks will feel right at home at the Dubai outpost of the Real Madrid café on The Beach, JBR.

And while he's here, he might also want to pop in and see his old teammate Michel Salgado, who runs the Spanish Soccer School at Sports City.
