Lewis Hamilton may have already sewn up the Formula One World Championship title, but he couldn’t be any more excited ahead of this weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The World Champion has announced that in celebration of the UAE’s 44th National Day, he will be wearing UAE colours and have the number ‘44’ on both his race helmet and gloves during the race.

“As the flag drops on the 2015 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, celebrations begin in the lead up to the 44th UAE National Day,” says Hamilton. “My race number is 44 and for this race, in celebration of the 44th UAE National Day, I am proud to carry the colours of the UAE with a specially designed logo displayed on my gloves and helmet.”

The Brit describes the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as “a special weekend for me,” mainly down to his good memories of lifting the championship there in 2014. “The UAE holds fantastic memories, especially with winning the World Championship here last year,” he continues.

“This year I return as World Champion but the pressure is on to win as always. If I win it will be my 44th Grand Prix win, so I hope I can bring home the victory. Wish me luck UAE!”

After the season Hamilton has had, you wouldn’t bet against him fending off his teammate Nico Rosberg and earning that 44th Grand Prix win.

And if he does, you can be sure he’ll be showing up at one of these awesome after-parties.
