Just 188 pieces of the 18k rose gold Manero Tourbillion Limited Edition will be made.

We all remember our first attempt at something, all be it with mixed emotions. So the watchmakers at Carl F. Bucherer should remember this timepiece fondly, as it breaks new ground for the company.

Despite having a presence since 1888, this is the Swiss watch brand’s first tourbillion. Presented in its Manero range, the watch will be a limited edition 18k rose gold piece with only 188 available worldwide.

Just to be sure this is indeed a tourbillion, an opening in the dial at 6 o’clock provides a view of the mechanism. The numerals of the scale change orientation at 3 and 9 o’clock, while the date is hand indicated. It also has a 70-hour power reserve with an indication of the remaining energy found at the 9 o’clock position.

It is water-resistant to 30 metres – so don’t be afraid to take it swimming – has an anti-reflective coating, a caseback with sapphire crystal and uses a Louisana alligator leather strap.

Not bad for a first attempt, Carl F. Bucherer. Not bad at all.
