We’re not going to beat around the bush. No one is going to remember this year’s Oscars for anything other than the goof up for the Best Picture. For those of you who missed the event and aren’t on social media, here’s what happened:
- Presenters Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty looked awkward and stalled for as long as they could before Dunaway announced La La Land won the coveted prize.
- The cast and crew, smiles, tears et al, flocked to the stage and we heard about four acceptance speeches before producer John Horowitz heard the news.
- The presenters were given the wrong envelope and instead blurted out the winner (Emma Stone) from the Best Actress in a Lead Role category.
- Similar to the Steve Harvey saga, the award was presented to Moonlight as the cast and crew for La La Land left the podium.
So while we can’t distract you from that epic screw-up, we hope you spare some time and take notes from these men who made no sartorial mistakes at the 89th Academy Awards.
