Bulgari plans luxury hotel on Dubai's new seahorse island

The title of ‘Dubai’s most unique hotel’ could soon be about to change hands…

We’re always a little sceptical when a high-end fashion brand branches out into a horizontal sector. The Prada phone anyone? …cue crickets.

But we’re hoping this hybrid will prove us wrong. Firstly because this is Bulgari, and secondly because the Italian powerhouse is launching a hotel in Dubai; where anything less than a resort of the highest opulence and perfection is pretty much ignored.

Teaming up with local developer Meraas, Bulgari plans to open a luxury resort in 2018 on Jumeirah Bay Island - a soon-to-be six million sq ft development shaped like a giant seahorse off the coast of Jumeirah Beach Road. Only in Dubai, right?

The Bulgari hotel will measure over 1.7 million sq ft and comprise 100 rooms and suites as well as 20 hotel villas, and will be designed by Italian firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and Partners.

As far as big openings on new Dubai landmarks go, this is a significant one. No prizes for guessing which brand all the interior design will come from.

Details: Bulgari already has branded hotels in Milan, Bali and London with a fourth planned for Shanghai next year. Visit: bulgarihotels.com
